Preveli Beach:

Merely 40 km from the town of Rethymno you can visit the most famous sandy beach with palm trees along the delta of kourtaliotis river.

Ammoudi Beach Complex:

Ammoudi is a beach complex located 32km south of Rethymno and 4km east of Plakias.

Damnoni Beach:

Damnoni is located 35km south of Rethymnon and 5km east of Plakias. It is a popular tourist resort, very well-developed and organized.

Shinaria Beach:

Skinaria Beach (or Shinaria) is located 33km south of Rethymno, 3km south of the village Lefkogia, in the east part of the wider Plakias area. Skinaria is a small beach with soft gray-beige sand and fine pebbles, with crystal blue deep water. The seabed is rocky, but on the north part of the beach, it is sandy.

Souda Beach:

Souda is located 41km southwest of Rethymno city, just 3km east of the resort of Plakias. It is actually the last beach of the beachfront of Plakias, called Yialia, which starts at Shinaria, several kilometers away.

Agios Pavlos

The coastal village of Agios Pavlos (St. Paul) is located 58km south of Rethymnon city, west of Agia Galini, and very close to the tip of Cape Melissa. You can access the area by driving from the village Sachtouria; owners of land in Agios Pavlos come mainly from Sachtouria. It's a peaceful place, well-hidden in a sheltered bay, which is ideal for quiet family holidays.

Kourtaliotis Gorge:

The gorge of Kourtaliotis is located 22km south of Rethymno and has a length of 3km. The amazing waterfall of Kourtaliotis is one of the most spectacular natural attractions of the area of Rethymnon.

Imbros Gorge:

A natural beauty, not as well known as the Samaria gorge, is the magnificent gorge of Imbros. It is 7 km and easier to walk through. making it suitable trekk for children too.

Kotsifos Gorge:

The gorge of Kotsifos starts at Kannevos village and ends at Plakias. The total length is 1800m, and the almost vertical sides that reach a height of 600m. Inside the gorge, there is a small temple built inside a rocky cavity dedicated to Saint Nicholas.

Patsos Gorge:

Patsos gorge is also known as Agios Antonios because of the little church in the cave near the entrance of the gorge. It is located 30km from the city of Rethymno at 490m altitude.
